The perfect castle of Ferdinand Cheval
The ideal castle of Ferdinand Sheval – this name has a charming structure located in the small town of France – Sharm-sur-Gerbas, near Lyon. This delightful building was erected by a man who had not previously done anything like this, in particular architecture.
From a very young age, Ferdinand was taciturn, he was especially dreamy and persistent. When the boy was 13 years old, he stopped going to school, and went to work in a local bakery. After thirty years, the founder of the castle takes his wife and moves to a quiet suburb, away from the bustle of the city, where he is arranged by a postman.
Once, returning home from work, he found a stone among his path that had a very beautiful unusual shape. The postman liked this stone so much that he took it as a message to the Lord, a sign that he should use it as building material. It is in those minutes that Ferdinand decides to build something unusual using this one, as well as many similar stones, without any skills in architecture. He took the stone with him and from that moment he is actively looking for stones of a wonderful, non-standard shape in order to build a real masterpiece. For twenty years of his life, the creator spent on the ascension of the walls of the perfect castle. The next thirteen years went to its decoration, decoration.
The decoration of the territory near the Perfect Castle of Ferdinand Sheval is various stairs, beautiful fountains, as well as wonderful statues dedicated to the Egyptian gods. They have a unique finish, which is made by small shells found by the architect.
Ferdinand completely surrendered to the construction of his Perfect Castle, he combined various styles and architectural directions in it. Its walls are inscriptions in ancient Greek languages, which makes sense of sayings, both Buddha and Christ. The facade of the palace is also decorated with various legendary animals, which apply to many cultures, as well as the imagination of the master.
The castle itself holds a large number of entrances and the mosque itself. He owns the large chapel of the Virgin Mary. Here, Cheval himself built cryptings for himself and his wife, which are located in the basement, but the local government refused to bury them there. After which the stubborn Cheval redeems part of the land at the local cemetery and creates a familiar crypt, made in the same fantastic style as the castle itself. In 1924, at the age of 88, the creator of this unrealistically beautiful castle was buried in an equally beautiful crypt. In 1969, the masterpiece of Ferdinand Sheval was taken to the lists of state historical monuments.
