The Pon du Gar Bridge is made of arcades, which are placed in three tiers. The upper tier of the bridge is the largest and holds 35 arches, 11 arches has an average tier, and in the lower tier you can count only six large arches.

The huge blocks of the bridge are made with a stone without solution and cladding. Water in this area holds a large amount of mineral salt, which over time accumulated at the bottom of the water supply. The aqueduct was used for its intended purpose until the 9th century, but its further operation was not possible, since its walls were covered with a layer of solid deposits, and the entire system failed.
