History of creation
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum shared plans to build an unusual facility in 2015. The goal was announced to present to the world a museum that would focus not on the past or present, but on the future. A year later, he opened the Museum of the Future exhibition at the World Government Summit. In the same year, the Dubai Future Foundation was established.
At first, the Museum of the Future in Dubai was temporarily launched in 2018 and operated as part of the World Government Summit, the official opening took place in 2022. A light show was organized in honor of this event.
Short description
The building of the Museum of the Future in Dubai occupies 7 floors, each of which has exhibits. You can move from one floor to another on a "spaceship" that is used as an elevator. 5 floors are dedicated to exhibitions, combined on different topics.
- The 1st floor, called "Heroes of the Future", was created for children under 10 years old. Interactive classes, educational games, and competitions are organized for them, where the winners receive an award. Admission is free for children under 3 years old.
- On the 2nd floor, you can get acquainted with advanced technologies and innovative concepts. It contains the works of the museum and its partners, which is an incubator and laboratory for global forecasting.
- The 3rd floor is decorated with Al-Waha, which means "oasis" in Arabic. This place presents several types of therapy to maintain concentration.
- The HEAL Institute is located on the 4th floor, demonstrating what biodiversity can be like and how life on the planet will be renewed.
- The 5th floor is occupied by the Nadezhda Orbital Space Station, which describes how space travel can help the world overcome difficulties in the future.
Architectural features
The Museum of the Future in Dubai is located in the financial district, the facade is decorated with calligraphy, even the windows are designed in Arabic letters, and this is noticeable. The 77-meter-high building stands out from the rest, it resembles the shape of a torus with windows in the form of a poem dedicated to the future in Arabic. It says that the future is being created here and now, it is in the hands of those who are able to imagine it and then realize it.
The Museum of the Future in Dubai of the Future has a complex oval shape with a void in the center. The architects say that this is a symbol of humanity, the hill where the exhibits are located is associated with planet Earth, the hole inside represents the uncertainty of the future. The area of the complex is estimated at 30,000 square meters. At the entrance, visitors receive a ribbon with a chip instead of tickets, and interactive elements can be activated using a wristband.
How to get
Buses No27, 29, X22, F11, F28, 21B, 98E pass near the Museum of the Future in Dubai. It takes about 5 minutes to walk from the bus stop to the destination. If you take the subway, the nearest station is Emirates Towers (red line). It is connected to the landmark by a land bridge. To get there, follow the signs. A 10-minute rental car ride along the main roads will take you. Taxi services are also available.
