Parnitha

The territory of Parnita Park consists of goose forests with a total area of approximately 300 km2, in which 818 plant species are registered, which is 15% of the total flora of Greece. It is allowed to hunt animals and collect mushrooms in the park. The park has all the conditions for a comfortable stay: many paths, springs, small waterfalls, chapels.

Pan's cave on Mount Parnite is very famous, named after the god whose sanctuary the cave is. On the other side of the mountain is the ancient Fili guard fortress. There are legends that the name of the mountain comes from the Greek goat-footed god Pan, who came to the mountain to play the pipe and dance in the forest. The mountain was first inhabited in the Mycenaean period. The mountain played a very important defensive role for the locals. And in the days of Ancient Greece, the mountain was generally considered invincible.

Parnitha

There is a Mont Parnes Hotel and casino on the mountain. You can climb the mountain using a fanicular, or take public transport.
