Peterhof
Peterhof - is a large tourist, scientific center located in Russia. The ideas of its creation were born in Peter I, who was the founder of this world-famous creation, back in 1714. According to his plan, the future representation of the kings should not have lost to Versailles in France. Peterhof was erected at an unusually fast pace, and already in 1723 the official presentation of Peterhof was completed.
At that time, the development of the Lower Park was developed, the Sea Canal was formed, Montplesir and Marley palaces were made, and there were also working parts of the fountains. It was this place for the construction of fountains that Peter chose not just like that, but after he discovered water bodies here that are trying to use groundwater. These sources live fountains in our time. Peterhof's Water Fairy is its « business card ».
Peter l actively participated in the development of the palace project, as well as single buildings and fountains. His epures and drawings have been preserved until our time. So on a natural cliff, 16 meters high, the Grand Palace was built, which in the 18th century was changed and replanned according to the Baroque style. Adhering to the Peter l project, the entrance to the palace is decorated with cascades of falling water with numerous bronze gilded statues. This water composition is the greatest structure among the Fontans around the world. The central object, an unusual beauty structure, appears before us a statue of Samson, which tears the fall of a lion. This fountain is the highest in Peterhof.
The fountains of the palace are very diverse and unique: « Pyrpamida » - the form resembles obelisk, « Roman fountains » - built according to the type of water attractions in Rome near St. Peter's Cathedral, « Chess mountain », comic fountains, which adore both children and adults.
Neglected by the sweetness of Peterhof Peter I. The revival of the palace began only under the rule of Anna Ioannovna, which was the successor to Peter the Great.
Unfortunately, the wealth of the Peterhof Palace was defeated during World War II. The paintings were looted, trees were cut down, and the greatest palace itself was burned out. The statues of Samson, Neva, as well as many others were taken out.
Immediately after the end of the war, this palace was restored, and also managed to return the famous sculpture « Samson » to its former place. Now Peterhof is one of the most popular places among tourists. In this small town you can admire the beauty of palaces, gourmet manors, cathedrals, as well as wonderful ponds, parks and fountains.
