Sheikh Zayed Mosque
Sheikh Zayed Mosque is located in the capital of the United Arab Emirates – Abu Dhabi. It was erected in 2007 in honor of the first president, Sheikh Zayed ibn Sultan al-Nahyan, who over 40 years of rule turned the surrounding places into an earthly paradise, and the inhabitants of – into the main rich planet. This architectural masterpiece, made of snow-white marble, is the largest church among Muslim structures and is striking in its architecture and design.
The adjectives are perfectly connected with the Sheikh Zayed Mosque: this is the largest mosque in this country, it has the largest 15-meter chandelier made from a million Swarovski crystals, the largest main dome weighing 1000 tons, the largest carpet with an area of more than 5600 square meters. The carpet spread out in such a huge space consists of 15 huge pieces with a total weight of 45 kilograms. Thousands of Iranian needlewomen have worked on the creation of a giant carpet for two years.
The total area of the room is more than 17,000 m2, that can be compared to 5 football fields. At four angles, minarets rise more than a hundred meters high.
The Sheikh Zayed Mosque includes the main prayer hall, where 9,000 believers can fit simultaneously, 57 white domes serve as its decoration. The next two halls, designed for women, can fit 1,500 worshipers. Before entering the temple, women are necessarily covered with burqa.
This man-made architectural structure has 80 domes, the decoration of which is white marble. Outside and in the middle there are more than a thousand columns decorated with marble panels for manual use with azurite, agate, pearl and other semiprecious stones.
The interior of the building is decorated with many gilded candlesticks using Swarovski stones. The largest of them is attached to the central dome. When building the wall, Kibla used gold and gilding. It says 99 names of Allah.
Around the building there are artificial lakes and canals decorated with a tile in dark colors. The splendor of a snow-white mosque is reflected in their waters.
Everyone can visit the Sheikh Zayed mosque, regardless of nationality, but some established rules must be observed: non-Muslims are prohibited from entering the inside during the service. They are also not allowed to touch the Qur'an and the elements associated with the holding of prayers. When choosing clothes, you must consider the religious dress code.
