How Novodevichy Ponds Came to Be
The park is considered to have been founded in 1957; it was designed by K.I. Pavlova. Muscovites, who at that time lived in the Frunzensky District, founded the park near the Novodevichy Convent. The opening coincided with the historic date marking the 40th anniversary of the October Revolution, as evidenced by a commemorative monument bearing the relevant information. Today, Novodevichy Ponds is a complex comprising two ponds. Each is located within a park of the same name, covering approximately 12 hectares.
