Miraikan Museum

Brief description

The name of the Miraikan Museum means “Museum of the Future”, it is very difficult not to notice it. This is a grandiose six-story building that looks like an alien station. Each of the six floors will provide answers to many questions from young and adult visitors. The most famous exhibit of the Miraikan Museum is a humanoid robot that speaks fluent Japanese, plays football and even climbs stairs.

In addition, the visitor can model an ideal future for himself and his descendants. During the interactive game you can see what kind of planet our descendants will have in 50 years. Here you can see continuous direct data from seismometers located throughout Japan. Thus, the Japanese and visitors can see that the country is constantly experiencing small earthquakes.

Features of the Miraikan Museum

In an unusually spectacular domed hall, there is a demonstration of various cataclysms that civilization has faced throughout its history. It could be a tsunami, a volcanic eruption, a pandemic or a nuclear war. Exposure allows you to find out the essence of the problem and helps you learn how to find a way out in any situation. The unique spherical display is an interactive model of the globe. Cloud movements captured from satellites reveal an ever-changing Earth. Visitors to the Miraikan Museum seem to be watching it from space, as if they were astronauts. The panel also displays the weather, ocean water temperature, changes in the state of vegetation, as well as scientific and socio-economic processes. During the pandemic, the display showed data related to COVID 19.
