Luxembourg Garden
Luxembourg Garden is a landmark of Paris, which is worth a visit to anyone who stops in the city. On the territory of 26 hectares there is a palace and park complex, which used to be royal, now the Senate is holding meetings in the Luxembourg Palace, as well as one of the chambers of the French parliament. In the central part there is a large fountain, alleys for pedestrians, comfortable benches, beautiful sculptures and cozy arbors.
The Luxembourg Garden was broken in 1612 by order of the widow of King Henry IV - Maria Medici, a native of Italy. The garden was decided to build in the fortress of Chateau Wover, which was then far beyond the city. The prototype of the castle is Palazzo Pitti in Florence, where Maria Medici lived. In 1617, Louis XIV ordered an increase in the land of the garden due to the territory of the Cartesian monastery. In the 17th century, the garden gained great popularity, in the 18th century it was chosen by writers and poets such as Russo, Denis Didro. In the following years, the territory of the garden has changed a lot. Count Provensky gave part of the garden for the restoration of the palace, and after the revolution all the lands of the Cartesian monastery went to the Luxembourg Garden.
In the Luxembourg Garden there is a Gignol doll theater, carousels, you can ride a pony or take a whole crew. Fans of outdoor activities can go to a tennis or basketball court. Most of all visitors can be seen at the Medici fountain, in which their own or rented small ships sail. The fountain itself considers one of the most romantic places in Paris.
Luxembourg Garden is a wonderful place to relax, you can just climb on the grass and admire the local beauties or walk around the beautiful garden, drink coffee with croissants.
