Dead sea
The Dead Sea is the saltiest body of water in the world. It is called dead because, due to the high composition of salt, representatives of fauna and flora do not live here. The formed crust of salt in the vicinity of the shores does not allow either trees or plants to grow. The sea has other names – Salty, Asphalt. The Dead Sea measures 76 km long and 18 km wide, with a maximum depth of 400 meters.
Located at 415 meters below sea level, the reservoir is the lowest point on the planet. Due to the dry, hot climate, evaporation significantly exceeds water intake, and as a result, the level continues to decrease continuously. In this case, only water evaporates, and the salts remain, increasing the concentration of salinity. Everyone who visits here will be able to verify this. You can lie down and sit in a pond without making any effort to do so. Here you can completely relax, feel the weightlessness of your body. At the same time, swimming and diving are quite difficult.
The Dead Sea is a health resort created by nature, attracting millions of people from all over the world. The combination of minerals and salts is the main source of healing effects in various diseases. As a result, the bronchi and lungs are cleansed, and the nervous system is calmed. Chronically ill people become healthy after visiting this hospital. Mud applications on the spine and joints are very effective.
Staying for a long time under the rays of the scorching sun, you can safely take sun baths for medicinal purposes without fear of getting burned, it is almost impossible.
There are many natural hot springs and mud streams on the seashore, near which sanatoriums are located. The resort area consists of villages where all-inclusive hotels have been built. Hotels with 4 stars or more have their own spas. These villages are connected by well-equipped bus routes.
There are many historical memorials on the coast. The Dead Sea Scrolls manuscripts were found in the Qumran caves. At the top of the mountain stands the fortress of Massada, a symbol of the defense of the inhabitants of Judea against the all–powerful Romans. Mount Sodom is known for its pillar of salt, shaped like a female figure.
The entire territory of the Dead Sea is included in the protected area. Special climatic features allow you to visit the land of eternal summer all year round, while combining rest with wellness.
