Tortuguero National Park
In the province of Limón, which belongs to the northeastern part of Costa Rica, there is the Tortuguero National Reserve, which is crossed by innumerable reservoirs, which include rivers along with the formed arms and channels. The park's territory also includes a gorgeous sandy coastline.
Tortuguero is one of the most visited parks in the whole country, although it is not so easy to get to it. Tourists are amazed by the large number of animals in this area, as well as the difference in vegetation. Both mammals and reptiles are found here. There are also many birds building their nests in the park. Snakesnakes, herons, and parrots are found among the variety of birds.
The diversity of vegetation in the reserve is also striking. There are at least 400 species of trees here alone, not to mention other plants, of which there are about 2000.
Tortuguero Park has more than 10 ecosystems, among which it is worth highlighting the most common rainforest, sandy coastlines, lagoons, and swamps. This whole area is located in a humid climate zone, which is richly endowed with precipitation, which explains the riot of nature.
The civilization in the park is represented exclusively by hotels that stretch along the coastline. Here, tourists are provided with all the conditions for living and enjoying the wonderful landscapes.
For vacationers of the Tortuguero Nature Reserve, many tourist routes have been developed, including hiking, rainforest trails, water trails, and local reservoirs. Moreover, the latter are more popular, since a guided tour of the water allows you to better see the wildlife of the park. Especially in Tortuguero is popular for boat trips at night, which is when you get the opportunity to watch the sea turtles that crawl ashore to lay their eggs. In order not to scare the animals away from such an important task, the guides forbid shining flashlights on them, as well as taking photos. The guides also use lanterns with red glass.
Tortuguero National Park has all the conditions for outdoor activities, which also attracts many tourists to this land. Here you can go horseback riding, surfing, and fishing. In the park, everyone can taste the banana groves and see how these sweet fruits are harvested and packaged to get to our shelves.
In the local shops you can buy something to remember you by, because local craftsmen make very beautiful souvenirs and various homemade products.
