Doi Inthanon
Doi Inthanon is a Thai national park founded in 1954. Its area is 1005 km2. It is the most famous park in Thailand and is located 100 kilometers from Chiang Mai. Doyintanon represents the highest point in Thailand, this mountain is made of granite and batolite. Its height above sea level is according to one data - 2559 m, and according to others - 2565 m.
In the mountain, the remains of the ruler of the kingdom of Lann, in whose name she is named, are buried. In honor of the king, as well as his wife, two temples were erected on the slope of the mountain. Due to the fact that the park is at its best, the climate is not very warm throughout the period. Rains and fogs are frequent guests of Doyintanon Mountain, and in January you can even see snow on top. To admire the sights of this park, you need to climb to the top of the mountain. The very first on this path is the 20-meter Maeklang waterfall, which is located at the foot of the mountain, near the village of Chomtong. There is also the Brichinda Cave. A beautiful rainbow can please visitors the 70-meter waterfall Vachirattan, which is located on the flat top of the mountain. The park’s information center is also located here, as well as another no less beautiful Siripum waterfall, which is spilled in the form of a cascade. There are also 260 meter waterfall in the park called May, the streams of water of which, when falling, create a smoke curtain, unusual beauty.
There is a legend for which every Thai resident must at least once in his life visit the top of the mountain. Tourists are offered to conquer the peak by renting a car, bicycle or motorbike, which can easily cope with mountain bumps.
The forests of Doyintanon National Park – are Thailand's most important heritage. They are represented by evergreen, as well as pine and mixed arrays. The mountain climate favorably affects birds, which are approximately 362 species living here. Those who prefer to explore the underwater world should pay attention to Similan or Mu-Ko-Ang-Thong.
At the entrance of Doyintanon Park there is an information center where you can buy a card, a flyer, souvenirs. On the way to the top, you can taste the local tribe, which will offer to buy locally produced clothes, as well as various gifts to relatives.
