Waterfall Hraunfossar
Hraunfossar – an unusual beauty waterfall that stretches a whole kilometer in the mountainous region of Iceland. It is located near the city of Borgarnes along the narrow bay.
The name of the waterfall is associated with its origin, because in translation into Russian it sounds like « Flavl waterfall ». And this is not without reason, since stormy water flows really run through frozen volcanic rocks.
Hraunfossar takes its waters in the underground river Hviutau, which paved the way from a huge glacier to cascading branching.
At least 100 streams just look charming that they are shavling from the dungeon and scattering in different directions. And on the volcanic shores of the waterfall, small dwarf birch trees grew, which truly adorn this area. They look especially beautiful in the summer, when their green tops bloom.
The entire Hraunfossar cascading waterfall belongs to the Husapetl Nature Reserve. Such a water extravaganza is quite rare, therefore, since 1987 it has been protected by the state.
In the Husaphel Natural Park there are sources with geothermal waters, which also attract a large number of travelers. Four kilometers from the Hraunfossar waterfall is another well-known waterfall called Barnafossar, which is also known as the Children's Waterfall. He got his name because of the old legend, according to which, as if, children disappeared in it.
If you decide to travel to Iceland, then be sure that your choice is worthy. After all, this country is truly beautiful, it has always been famous for fascinating natural paintings. And the landscapes of the Hraunfossar volcanic cascading waterfall will simply delight you.
