Havana Revolution Museum
The Museum of the Revolution is located in the historic center of Havana, Cuba. In the past, the museum buildings formed the presidential palace complex, which served as the residence for the ruling presidents of the country. In 1974, a museum was established here in order to preserve the history of Cuba, in particular the important events of the country in the 1950s and 1960s. Before that, it was housed in an ancient castle. After the restoration, the museum acquired the neoclassical style.
The Museum of the Revolution has 38 exhibition halls on two floors, in which all exhibits are arranged according to the chronology of events. There are also expositions dedicated to the revolutionary events of Cuba in 1950-1960, pre-revolutionary Cuba and the War of independence.
The first two halls contain objects that reflected the struggle of the indigenous population against the invaders from Spain. The following halls, called the National Liberation War, are dedicated to the military events of 1956-1959, when Cubans fought against the rule of Fulgencio Batista.
The Museum of the Revolution exhibits life-size figures of revolutionaries, corresponding to real military situations, the objects they used, and the heroes' clothes stained with blood.
Special buildings have been set aside to study the relics of Ernesto Che Guevaro's campaign in Bolivia, which contain objects of the man-hero, helping to present his image. The most valuable are the medical instruments he used to rescue the wounded.
There are signs with information in English and Spanish near all the exhibits of the museum. The exhibitions provided highlight the heroism of the Cuban freedom fighters. In one of the halls of the museum there is a museum shop where you can buy items and clothes for sale.
There is a memorial in the park next to the Museum of the Revolution. There is a yacht, three jeeps, and tanks converted from tractors used by the rebels to reach the island. The yacht is located under a glass sarcophagus, there is a constant fire and an honor guard. A monument to the Eternal Heroes of the New Motherland has been erected at the very exit from the park.
The revolutionary spirit of Cuba can be felt throughout the Museum of the Revolution.
