The mangrove forests of Kanzo are a protected natural area of Vietnam. An alternative name is Kanze. The trees grow on swampy soils that were formed from the alluvial clay deposits of the Saigon and Dongnai rivers. The forests were formed under the influence of brackish waters and sulfuric acid processes. The altitude above sea level ranges from -10 to +10 meters.
History
The mangrove forests of Kanzo are an example of how an ecosystem can be brought back to life after severe anthropogenic impacts. Military operations took place in this place, and napalm and defoliants were used during the Vietnam War. The substances not only burned vegetation, but also poisoned water and soil. Under such conditions, the mangrove forests of Kanzo could not recover on their own.
A multi-stage design was developed, which combined a scientific approach, manual labor and enhanced protection of the territory. Mangroves were manually planted on an area of about 20,000 hectares. In Kanzo, channels and channels were cleared and restored in order to restore the natural water exchange between rivers, the sea and forest areas.
Description
In 2000, the mangrove forests of Kanzo were granted the status of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This was a confirmation that environmentally sound restoration has received international recognition. The reserve consists not only of mangroves, but also of other plants. Larger trees can be seen in some areas (for example, Vam Sat). Nipa palms form dense thickets in the brackish waters of canals and channels. From afar, it is easy to notice their large feathery leaves and large trunk. Date palms also grow surrounded by low-growing mangroves.
Vietnam is visited by travelers from all over the world. The tourist route is thought out to the smallest detail. First there is parking, then there is the administrative area, from which you can go to different points to:

The route to the Mangrove forests of Kanzo is two-stage: land and water. The easiest way is to come with an organized tour. There are many agencies in Ho Chi Minh City that arrange transfers from the hotel, meet guests and show them the main places.
Bus number 20 runs from Ben Thanh Market, you need to get off at the ferry crossing over the Saigon River. After the crossing, take bus No. 90 and get to the station next to the park. You can get from this place by boat or speedboat.
