Khao Yai National Park

Khauyai is a national park in Thailand, established in 1962. It occupies an area of ^2,168 km2, being the second largest park in the country. The landscape of the park is diverse, including evergreen forests and meadows. The heights range from 400 to 1000 meters. In 2005, the park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

There are picturesque waterfalls in Khauyai National Park. The 80-meter waterfalls of Heo Narok and Haeo Suvat became famous all over the world thanks to the movie "The Beach" starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Park Khauai should be visited during the rainy season from June to August, when the rivers are at their fullest and vegetation is gaining full strength. The rest of the time, the waterfalls will not seem so beautiful.

There are guided tours in Khauyai, during which you can get to know the wildlife better. And there is a lot to see in the park, there are over 3000 species of plants alone, the park will be interesting for lovers of birds, of which there are 320 species. There are also 67 species of mammals recorded in the park, among which the most interesting will be: Himalayan bears, Indian elephants and zambaras, gauras, tigers, muntjak deer, wild boars, porcupines.

The park has a well-developed tourist infrastructure, with over 50 km of hiking trails alone. But to explore the entire park, you should rent a car or sign up for one of the safari car tours. During the trip, you can get acquainted with the nightlife of the park's inhabitants: deer, elephants, monkeys. In Khauyai National Park, it is worth visiting the caves, which are home to a huge number of bats, as well as other nocturnal inhabitants.
