Linderhof Castle
In the southern part of Bavaria, in the midst of a wonderful valley, there is the magnificent Linderhof Castle, which belongs to Ludwig II. No less wonderful is the surroundings of the palace, which are served by smooth alleys, as well as various gilded sculptures.
The King of Bavaria, who loved splendor and beauty, decided to build three palaces: Neuschwanstein, Herrenkimsee and Linderhof, but only the construction of the latter was completed during his lifetime. Ludwig got used to the walls of the luxurious castle where he lived with his parents from an early age. The boy was interested in beautiful legends with beautiful castles. As a child, the king drew sketches of his magnificent palace buildings. When Ludwig grew up, the idea of building a castle did not leave him, and he began to study architecture. In 1867, the French Versailles pleased the king so much that, returning to his land, he decided to build something similar. In 1869, Ludwig II began grandiose construction on the site where his father's hunting lodge had previously been located, 87 km away. from Munich.
The builders of Linderhof Castle, as well as its sculptors, traveled to France more than once to gain experience with the craftsmen who worked on the construction of Versailles. The last work on the decoration of the luxurious halls of Linderhof Castle was carried out in 1886.
From the very first steps to the palace, it feels like you are being transported to another world, a world of luxury and fantasy. Sophistication and brilliance can be seen in the smallest details of the castle.
Among the many halls, the king's bedroom stands out, which is a huge room in the center of the castle. It contains a large bed, measuring 4x4meters, where the king himself saw his dreams. Very interesting and luxurious is the hall of mirrors, which had the purpose of a living room. Ludwig spent many nights in this room, poring over a book. The mirrors reflect the light of numerous candles, which creates an amazing effect.
The Tapestry Room houses an exhibition of paintings and luxurious antique furniture. There is a peacock with phosphorus, which is presented in natural size.
The reception hall was usually not crowded, here Ludwig II thought about new projects in silence. There were a couple of round tables in the middle of the room, as well as a gorgeous four-poster throne. The king's seat was decorated with ostrich feathers, which symbolized power.
The dining hall of Linderhof Castle had its own peculiarities. The fact is that the king usually dined alone, but asked to set the table for four people. The table was set in the kitchen, and with the help of a special device, the table was lifted up into the dining room.
One of the most famous places of Linderhof Castle is the Venus Grotto. There is an amazing lake in the artificial cave, where a wonderful waterfall splashes. Talented singers usually gave concerts here, and dancers showed their best performances on the shore. The cave's lighting, which was equipped with a special mechanism, resembles modern color music.
The gardens that surround Linderhof Castle are worth a separate conversation. This is simply an unsurpassed creation among the landscaping of all time.
Amidst the luxury of the Linderhof Palace, it's hard to control time. This attraction in Germany is in great demand among tourists and brings huge profits to the country.
