Munich English Garden

The largest green city park in the world is Munich's English Garden. This landscape park is a favorite vacation spot for local residents, as well as guests of the city. Beyond its scale, he surpassed even such famous parks as the Central Park of New York, as well as the London Hyde Park.

Munich English Garden

Munich English Garden covers an area of 4.17 km2. The green park area stretches from the central part of the city to the north by 5.5 km. The main architect of the English Garden was Friedrich Ludwig Shkel. This landscape park in Munich has existed since 1972. It was Europe's very first public park available.

The English park originates at the main structures of this city, namely the State Chancellery and the House of Arts. The long tape of the park, 1 km wide, is divided into two zones, the city autobahn. Between themselves they are connected by a large pedestrian bridge. On the north side, the English Garden rests on the campus. A fairly crowded vacationer is usually the southern side of the park, where more than 120 thousand people can be at the same time. At the same time, the north side remains silent and calm, representing a cozy well-groomed urban forest.

Munich English Garden

The English landscape park has repeatedly suffered from natural disasters, as well as during the times of world wars.

The garden architect attached particular importance to the system of water streams and lakes in the garden. One of the largest and most complete streams in Munich Park is Icebach, which lures water sports enthusiasts, in particular surfing. From the south side of the park, the Schwabinger-bach stream stretches, which intersects with Icebach. This stream forms a wonderful small waterfall, the height of which is 1 meter and the width is 15 meters. On both sides of the stream are the amazing beauty of the clearing, some of them are a favorite place for the tug of nudists. A stream called Oberstegermisterbach also flows here, the banks of which are guarded by deciduous trees.

The subsequent natural attraction is Lake Kleinhessenloye, which has existed since 1800. In transparent lake waters there is fish, among which are carps, pike, and Karasi.

A popular vacationer is the Zehaus beer garden, where you can relax and enjoy fresh cold beer. Historic attractions stand out the southern part of the English Garden. Here is Monopter, which is decorated with polychrome stone painting. A traditional tea ceremony can be performed in a cozy Japanese tea house, which was created in 1969.

Not far from Oberstegermeisterbach is the Amphitheater, where fascinating theater productions by talented actors are regularly held in summer.

Munich's English Garden is always crowded, because here they like to relax both families and large noisy companies.
