For all the time of its existence, many famous historical persons lived here, in particular 34 rulers of France – from Louis VI to Napoleon. Each next owner made his own changes, supplementing the palace with new works of art and leaving his mark on the architecture of the building.

The palace has repeatedly survived periods of prosperity and decline. Napoleon III returned the Fonteblelo Palace to seemingly lost greatness and luxury forever. He really liked these apartments, and maximum efforts were made to return the former chic country residence.

The interior of the palace used decoration with a combination of many gemstones and gold, antique furniture was placed, the rooms were decorated with paintings, frescoes and tapestries. The main masterpiece is a staircase made in the form of a horseshoe.

In Fonteblo Castle, the air is filled with historical events and each interior has its own legend. There is a myth here that the ghost of a red man lives in the castle, who predicted events to the royal people.

In 1870, when the French Republic replaced the French Empire, the Fonteblo Palace falls into oblivion.

Today Fonteblo Palace is a state museum. There are 4 museum halls on the territory of the castle, namely: the museum of Emperor Napoleon, consisting of the Throne Hall, bedroom, the office of the emperor and the Red Salon, where Bonaparte wrote a renunciation of the throne, the Chinese Museum, furniture museum and painting gallery.

The architectural ensemble is the Fontanov courtyard with ponds, the White Horse courtyard and the Ovalky Dvor. The magnificent park includes the English Garden, Diana's Garden. Painful alleys are equipped, marble sculptures are arranged. All this is surrounded by a pine forest. Peacocks walk freely throughout the territory, not at all afraid of tourists and guests.

Fonteblo Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The combination of wonderful landscapes with clean air and made in the refined architectural style of the castle attracts many tourists and connoisseurs of sophistication.
