Blois Castle

In the unrivaled French valley of the Loire, there is the majestic castle of Blois, which really deserves the title « royal ». This palace served as a luxury apartment for at least 17 members of the royal family. It was here that Catherine the Medici was the last place of residence, and the Duke de Guise passed away in this castle, and Louis XII and Francisco I ruled from here.

The castle was not built in one period, each ruling king tried to bring his contribution to the appearance. But to his modern appearance he owes two kings – Louis XII and Francis I. The wing, which belongs to Louis XII, stands out with its huge windows, as well as balconies and loggias. Galleries and many attributes are located here that point to peaceful times when it was all created. Indeed, when Louis XII came to power, there was no need to erect defensive fortifications. This castle served as a royal haven of quiet time.

As for the constructed part of Francis I, it is easy to see a large connoisseur of architecture in its buildings. He began to introduce his first architectural visions into Blois Castle. The main fragment that stands out on this wing is the chic staircase. This front staircase is known for trema balconies with which you can admire the main part of the courtyard.

The decoration of the castle of Blois is rich and sophisticated enough. From the wing of Francis I you can go to the huge hall, which accommodates a lot of rich Italian-style furniture, beautiful tapestries, a large number of different chests. In the same wing there is a Guards Hall, where various embroidered handwork on religious subjects is located. If you go out on a huge loggia, then an amazing view of the royal garden will open in the eye.

Catherine Medici, who left many paintings and sculptural busts of the entire royal family, also contributed to the museum exhibits of Blois Castle. This woman was a true connoisseur of portrait art. The largest of the entire castle is the General States room, which is located on the lower floor.

Blois Castle, along with its gardens and pond, is simply fascinating. Once a week, a bazaar is organized on the area adjacent to the castle, where vegetables and fruits that have grown on the royal territory are sold. In the evening, a music and entertainment show is held at Blois Castle, which gives it even more greatness.
