Giethoorn Village
Giethoorn Village – is a small village in the Netherlands, but is very popular among tourists, as it simply enchants with its beauty. The location of the village is water channels, with a total length of 7.5 km. Here live 2620 people who consider the main luxury of this town – clean air and natural silence.
The year of foundation is 1230 when refugees from the southern part of the Netherlands settled this territory. Local residents mined peat from underground, which formed the appearance of the village as it is presented today. Many piece channels that were dug around the houses were filled with water over time.
This area has gained popularity, thanks to director Bert Hanstru, who shot the famous comedy « Fanfara », which was to taste, by numerous film viewers. Now many tourists admire Githorn and call it Netherlands Venice or Northern Venice. The comparison is not without reason, since each village house is surrounded by water and connected by a wooden bridge, of which there are close to 50, with a neighboring building.
Githorn is an environmentally friendly corner, because the main transport that is here is bicycles, as well as boats and boats with electric motors, which silently ply along artificial canals, almost without violating natural silence. Each house has its own boat parked, which serves both for fishing and as a means of transportation. Buildings in the village – is just a sight for sore. Each house is built of brownish brick and is damped with a roof of straw. The surroundings of the house are represented by green lawns, as well as decorative clubs, a variety of well-groomed flowers.
