Soumaya Museum
The Soumaya Museum is one of the most visited attractions in Mexico. The country is famous for the fact that it combines traditional Indian and modern culture, which has allowed the creation of many archaeological zones, as well as a huge number of museum networks that attract hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. The museum is located on the square named after Carso, which was built at the expense of businessman Carlos Slim.
History of the creation of the Soumaya Museum
The name of the museum was not chosen by chance; it was named after Slim’s wife. According to the businessman, it was his wife who became the real inspiration, as she bought various works of art with him and dreamed that they would become the property of all the people. His wife’s wish was fulfilled - Carlos built the Soumaya Museum, where world works of art are stored - works by da Vinci, Van Gogh and other famous masters. The institution is filled with numerous paintings and various works of art by Mexican masters.
Features of the Soumaya Museum
In Mexico, the Soumaya Museum is called the Soumaya anvil; it is a unique architectural object in the very center of Mexico City. The building is located in the industrial part of the city, thus there is a striking contrast in the architecture of the museum and adjacent buildings.
The building of the Soumaya Museum is made in a futuristic style; it consists of approximately 30 columns, which are covered with special plates. The material of the columns and plates is steel, which was processed in Mexico City itself. The architects of this building made a number of decisions that influenced the final appearance of the building, for example, there are no windows in the museum itself. This is explained by the fact that inside the complex there are many valuable exhibits that should not be exposed to sunlight. This feature allows you to maintain its original appearance. A Mexican company, whose work has proven itself throughout Latin America, was chosen for the construction and design of the building.
