Cinque Terre National Park
Cinque Terre – is a national park located on the shores of the Ligurian Sea in the eastern side of the Riviera, owned by beautiful Italy. Translated, the name of the reserve is “Five Lands”, since it covers just as many small settlements with the names: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Kornilia, Manarola and Riodamajore. The largest distance between them is 2 hours walk. Since 1997, this reserve has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cinque Terre is a chic rocky coast with hiking trails.
This plot of land is covered with vineyards and various groves. The magnificent landscapes of the Cinque Terre Park are deservedly in the forefront among the most beautiful places in Italy. The village of Riodamajore was born back in the 13th century, when the first structures were erected that strengthened it. It is inhabited by approximately 2,000 people, the main occupation of which is fishing, as well as growing grapes. Here you can endlessly admire natural paintings, but some cultural monuments also belong to the sights, among them a castle that was erected in the XV-XVI centuries. The Church of St. John the Baptist has also been preserved until our time.
Between Riomajore and Manarola there is the so-called « Road of Love », which is a narrow path along the rocky coast. It arose at the beginning of the xx century, and before that, there was almost no connection between them. In the town of Monarola, you simply can not look at the beautiful view of the harbor and the houses in cascading order, which rise up onto the rock. The oldest settlement of the reserve is Vernazza, which appeared somewhere in the 11th century. Here, rising to the tower of Doria Castle, all the charms of the city open, as well as the coastal zone and green shrubs. In the town there are cultural monuments, among which the Church of St. Margarita of Antioch, which belongs to the 11th century, as well as the Church of St. Francis of Assisi. In the village it is worth taking a walk in streets that are so narrow that sometimes it seems - this is the territory of the house. A characteristic feature of the streets of these five cities is that fishing boats are located everywhere. Monterossa del Mara has wonderful sandy beaches with pretty landscapes.
Tourism is very developed in these cities, houses and rooms are rented for city guests everywhere. The park has many cozy cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops. You can get to Cinque Terre by train from the city of Genoa, spending about two hours on the road. By car, entry into the territory is prohibited, by a coma in the city of Monterosso, where parking is located. Between the towns of the reserve you will have to run on foot, as well as using water ferries and environmental buses.
