History of creation
Lincoln Park in Chicago was named after the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, but it was originally Lake Park, founded in 1860 on land north of the cemetery. It has had its current name since 1865. The park area was expanded several times, and it was only by the 1950s that it reached its final size of 488.86 hectares.
By the middle of the 20th century, Lincoln Park in Chicago was a huge park complex with football and baseball fields, landscaped fishing areas, tennis courts and golf courses, as well as protected areas and beaches for recreation. It has been on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places since 1994.

In the Dog Friendly Area, pets can play without a leash. It is located in the OZ theme park inside Lincoln Park, named for the sculptures associated with the Wizard of Oz, which are harmoniously scattered throughout the park.
How to get
Lincoln Park in Chicago can be reached by buses CTA No151, 156, which stop next to the east entrance. Buses No22, 36 run near the western border of the zoo. The nearest metro stations are Armitage, Fullerton. Please note that you need to walk 1.5 kilometers from both stations. An alternative option is to take a taxi or a rented car. The park is open every day, admission is free, but guided tours may be paid.
