Valley of Geysers

The valley of geysers - one of the largest geyser fields on our planet, has found its place in the distant Kamchatka. This is a rather rare occurrence that can be met in nature. A set of geysers lurked among the hard-to-reach gorges of the Kronotsk Reserve, which is in the UNESCO World Heritage Register.

Valley of Geysers

Nobody knows the exact age of this wonderful valley where geysers are located, but they realize that it has existed for several thousand years. Nature, very diligently, hid this attraction, since it was discovered only in 1941, and until that time no one knew about its existence. Expeditions, travelers, as well as local residents were nearby in different years, but the chaos of the ridges, which is located near the most geysers, scared away from this area.

Back in 1934, the Kronotsk Reserve was formed on this territory, where land with a valley of geysers accidentally fell. And only in the middle of spring of 1941 was he discovered by employees of the – State Park Tatyana Ustinova with the conductor-itelman Anisifir Krupenin. Here they studied the origins of the Šumna river. Quite by accident, sitting down on a snowy slope, the workers examined on the opposite bank of the river, the screeching part of the land over which steam rose. At first, not understanding the situation, they were terribly scared, as the hot stream quickly increased and began to hit simply across the river. And when the water beating from the ground disappeared as quickly as it began, Ustinova immediately realized that she was the discoverer of a real geyser in Kamchatka, to whom she gave the name Pervenets.

Valley of Geysers

There are approximately 20 significant geysers in the Valley, from which approximately one fifth of all hot water flows. Each of them is peculiar, with an individual character and name. Among them are those that work in separate jets, simultaneously throwing several pieces, cascading type or steam.

The most magnificent is the geyser, which is named because of its size – Giant. The scope of the erupting shavings is compared to the height of a nine-story house, the steam of which rises by 300 meters.

In addition to these geysers, there are various water sources, streams, lakes with cold or warm water on the territory, as well as hot clay zones, from the temperature of which even boots on the leg will not save. Wormwood – is a plant that serves as an indicator of a given territory where it grows – you can be sure that there is a solid area, since there are plots on which green grass grows, and stepping, you can plunge a meter into a hot slurry.

This is the tourist wealth of Kamchatka, because of its location, only a few thousand people can afford to visit, since it is possible to get here only by air. In 2008, a popular vote was held, after the results of which the Valley of Geysers in Kamchatka took its place of honor on the list of seven Miracles of Russia. In 2007, she was seriously harmed by a landslide that destroyed many geysers and flooded the territory with a submarine lake. But still, this attraction is among the wild and still causes interest among tourists and scientists.
