Museum Ludwig
In Cologne, the Ludwig Museum, a collection of modern European art, is rightfully considered one of the most significant sights. The institution was founded in 1976. The shows were based on paintings of the 20th century, which were in the collection of a major German industrialist and philanthropist Peter Ludwig and his wife Irene. In the museum, you can also admire paintings by Expressionist artists that once belonged to the famous lawyer and collector Josef Haubrich.

The exhibition area of the Ludwig Museum occupies 8,000 square meters. On average, up to 10 major exhibitions are held here every year. In the exhibition hall you can get acquainted with the works of talented masters of surrealism, pop art, including Salvador Dali, Joan Miro, Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso. Of particular interest is the work of Natalia Goncharova, Marc Chagall, Kazimir Malevich. You can also appreciate graphics and photo and video art, which depict important moments in history. In addition, the Ludwig Museum has a spacious library of art books.

The founders of the museum made an invaluable contribution to the development of culture. They were called symbols of the post-war revival of Germany. The Ludwig family insisted that the collection be replenished with new collections. This tradition has survived to this day. Foreign and domestic artists or their heirs bring their best works to the Ludwig Museum. To date, the works of 150 authors have been collected here. In the future, the collections will continue to grow. At the moment, the emphasis is on the freedom of the viewer's perception, which is not constrained by curatorial concepts.
The Ludwig Museum is open from 10.00 to 19.00 almost every day. The only day off is Monday. And every first Thursday of any month, its doors are open from 10.00 to 22.00. An entrance ticket can be bought for 13 euros, a concession ticket - 8.5 euros, a family ticket - 26 euros. If you collect a group, then one ticket will cost 9 euros. Visitors under 18 can enter the museum for free. Such a policy is aimed at educating a minor audience. According to statistics, more than 200 thousand people visit the museum every year.
The Ludwig Museum is located on Heinrich Böll Square. Nearby is the railway station. You can get here by metro to the station "Dom/Hauptbahnhof" and walk a short walk to the city center.
