The islands of Evia are separated from Greece by straits, each of which has its own legend. The most famous of them is associated with the Euryphus Strait, about the mystery of which Homer wrote. Legend has it that Aristotle himself once walked along the island, trying to find out the secret of changing the current. For thousands of years, the streams of sea waters have been skirting the island from both sides and touching at one of its narrowest points. Three times a day, there is a change of currents in the strait – one of the rarest natural phenomena. The water moving at a speed of about 12 km / h seems to freeze and after a while begins to move in the other direction.
