Monastery of Ten Thousand Buddhas

The Monastery of Ten Thousand Buddhas is one of the most beautiful Buddhist monasteries in the whole world, it was founded in 1951 in Hong Kong by the Buddhist teacher Yuet Kai. The construction of the temple took a lot of effort and time; construction lasted as long as 18 years. Even the teacher took part in the construction of the object: despite his age, he, along with the students, carried building materials from the very foot of the mountain.

The most important attraction of the Monastery of Ten Thousand Buddhas is the mummy of the teacher. This monastery houses over 12 thousand Buddha statues; their construction took more than 9 years. These are stunningly beautiful figurines of different sizes, some reach more than a meter, and the height of some statues is 30 centimeters. All the figurines in the Monastery of Ten Thousand Buddhas are covered with gold, and they have retained their stunning appearance to this day. Also inside the monastery there are very beautiful frescoes, stucco moldings, mosaics and much more. Despite the time and effort lost during construction, the Monastery of Ten Thousand Buddhas is considered inactive, and no one lives in it. The facility serves the civilian population.
