Montreal Botanical Garden
The Montreal Botanical Garden is a green island of freedom among the stone jungles of Montreal. It was founded in 1931, during difficult times for the world - during the Great Depression. The garden scheme was planned by Henry Teuscher, and the Art Deco building for the garden administration was designed by designer Lucien Kerouac. In 1936, it opened its doors to visitors.
The Botanical Garden in Montreal is one of the best gardens in the world. The territory occupied by the gardens is 75 hectares, on which the following gardens are located: Chinese, Alpine, medicinal plants, rhododendrons, toxic garden plants, First Nations, Japanese, which hosts tea ceremonies, as well as an arboretum and a garden with azaleas. In total, the collection of the botanical garden contains over 25 thousand varieties of plants located in 10 greenhouses and greenhouses, about 30 stylized gardens, recreating those corners of the world from where they come from.
In the Chinese garden, almost everything is stylized like China: winding paths are laid, there are even artificial embankments symbolizing mountains, waterfalls, typical Chinese plants are planted. In the garden there is a collection of bonsai trees, which were presented to the garden.
The Garden of the First Nations represents Canada, so it is fashionable to meet typical representatives in the garden: maples, birches, pines. Totem poles of Indians are placed throughout the garden, as well as a large number of exhibits related to the life of Indians. In the gardens you can also see typical Canadian animals: ducks, squirrels, turtles and herons.
The Montreal Botanical Garden surprises its visitors all year round with the scent of flowers and their lush coloring. Walking through the park, you can feel like a resident of China, attend a tea ceremony, enjoy the aromas of roses from the best breeders in the world, and get acquainted with the gardening and park features of different countries around the world. The garden also hosts exhibitions of sculptures made from flowers. The garden is a great place to relax for the whole family.
