Newgrange and the Boyne Valley: exploring a prehistoric landscape
Newgrange is part of the archaeological site of Brú na Bóinne in Ireland. One mound helps to start a conversation about the past, but the surrounding landscape shows that the monuments here form a whole system.

Several monuments nearby
UNESCO lists Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth among the main monuments of the complex, located near the River Boyne. They are surrounded by other prehistoric structures and traces of more recent eras.

What you can find out on site
Pay attention to the position of the mounds in the valley, stone structures and explanations about archaeological research. Modern researchers reconstruct history from surviving evidence, and not from one subject.
Visit plan
Access to monuments, excursions and tickets may vary. Before you go, check the visitor center rules and the availability of your route. Stay on approved paths and don’t touch ancient surfaces.
