Bailong Elevator
The Bailong Elevator or the 100 Dragons Elevator is a unique structure; it has been included in the Guinness Book of Records several times due to its location and incredible design. Initially, the elevator was conceived for a faster and more comfortable lifting of tourists to the Zhangjiajie National Nature Reserve. But since its opening, it has become an equally significant attraction.
Brief description
Bailong Elevator is the tallest open elevator in the world, its height is 330 meters. It consists of three two-story cabins. The walls and floor of the elevator are made of special glass and during the ascent, which is 5 minutes, passengers have time to admire the views of the surrounding area. Up to 50 people can be in one cabin at the same time, depending on the total weight.
The construction of the Bailong elevator caused a lot of controversy from the very beginning; environmentalists were most dissatisfied. It is believed that great harm to nature was caused even at the stage of construction and launch of all the structures. Special holes were made in the rock on which the lift was located and even technical rooms were located. In addition, the appearance of such an object attracted even more attention to this region.
A large number of tourists have visited these places before. A sheer cliff and a small path on it were the only way to get to the unique Zhangjiajie Nature Reserve. The construction of the Bailun elevator, in this case, was a step towards the comfort and convenience of the reserve's guests. In addition, the rocky path was destroyed due to the constant impact of the human factor.
Features of the Bailong elevator
After the completion of construction and the first launch of the Bailong elevator, it was under development for 10 months, and actions were taken to ensure the complete safety of passengers. The designers have provided for a variety of scenarios and ways to solve them. So, for example, during seismic activity, elevators will bring passengers down as quickly as possible.
The Bailong Elevator is certainly a landmark, but it was installed in its place for easy access to the Zhangjiajie Nature Reserve. This unique place is worth a visit. The national park is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. In addition to pristine nature and rare inhabitants, the park contains a large number of pillars made of sand and quartz rocks. The park has more than 300 natural columns, up to 200 meters high. The atmosphere in the reserve is considered very favorable for the human body. There is high humidity and a constant slightly cool air temperature, which even in winter does not fall below +10 degrees.
