Old Tbilisi in Half a Day: Balconies, Abanotubani and a Coffee Break
You do not need to climb to the fortress on your first Old Tbilisi walk. Start near Meidan, notice the wooden balconies and continue to Abanotubani’s brick domes. This compact plan leaves room for lunch and an unplanned turn.

Use Meidan as your starting point
Save Meidan Square on your map and explore nearby public streets. Watch the ground as well as the architecture: paving and steps can be uneven. Admire carved balconies from the street. Open gates do not give permission to enter private courtyards or photograph residents.
Walk to Abanotubani
Continue towards the bath district and Abano Street. Pause to look at the low brick domes. Walking around the baths and booking a bath are different plans. For an indoor visit, check the chosen establishment’s conditions, prices and reservations beforehand rather than assuming availability.

The gorge is optional
This part of town has an approach to Leghvtakhevi. Follow current signs and barriers, since access conditions can change. If the route is closed or slippery, leave it out. Never go around a barrier simply to reach the waterfall.
Finish at a table
Choose a cafe for coffee or lunch. Share a khachapuri if the size and filling suit you, and ask about ingredients. Allow roughly 3–4 hours with one stop, excluding a bath visit. Bring water, comfortable shoes and a charged phone.
