Synevyr

Synevyr is one of the most famous and beautiful lakes in Ukraine, located in Transcarpathia. People from all over Transcarpathia come here for a wedding photo shoot. It is believed that if the newlyweds fell in love with each other on the lake, then they will have a strong and long-lasting love.

Synevyr

The lake appeared as a result of a powerful earthquake that moved mountains, blocking the path of streams more than 10,000 years ago. Three mountain streams filled the lake with the purest water, in which trout now feel good, since fishing is prohibited here. The water depth is on average 10-11 meters, the maximum is 22 meters, the lake covers an area of about 7 hectares. Lake Sinevir and the surrounding area are part of the national Park of the same name with an area of 404 km2. The path to the water is blocked by a natural dam, from which a small stream flows. It is worth noting that Synevir does not overflow its banks even during severe floods.

The surrounding landscapes are amazing in their beauty. The slopes of the mountains, right up to the water's edge, are overgrown with centuries-old fir trees. In the middle of Lake Sinevir there is a small island, like a pupil on the water surface of the island. Because of this, the lake is also popularly called the "Sea Eye".

The locals have a beautiful legend about the lake. Once these lands belonged to a rich count, and he had a beautiful daughter named Sinya, and they called her that because her eyes were blue like the sky. The count decided to see how his lumberjacks were working in the mountains, and took his daughter with him. While he was watching the lumberjacks at work, his daughter went to pick flowers. She heard the sounds of a pipe nearby and went in their direction. There she saw a handsome young man named Vir. That's how they met, and the girl began to visit the guy in the mountains quite often. The count found out about this, ordered his daughter to stop meetings, but she did not listen, then the count ordered his men to throw a stone from a cliff at the guy. Vir died from the blow, Sinya found out about it and ran to the stone, hugged him and sobbed for a long time until a lake appeared around her. The locals named Lake Sinevir in honor of the lovers. The water in the lake has been blue and clear ever since, like Blue eyes. In the middle is the same stone.

In 1984, sculptors Mikhail Sanich and Ivan Brovdi carved 13-meter-high wooden sculptures of Blue and Vir on the shore. A walk on the lake is perfect for family activities, but those who love the marine climate should go to Turkey.
