South Downs
South Downs has been known as the UK National Park since 2009. All the previous 60 years, he was simply under state supervision. This reserve holds 1600 km2 the territory that is located between Cape Beachy Head in East Sussex and the Winchester border in Gemshire. South Downs is notable for its amazing natural landscapes, which are filled with dense forests, mountain ranges and a wonderful coast.
Among ecologists, this area is known as « light » of this part of the country. There are many tourists in South Downs who are attracted by amazing shallow mountains, charming green expanses and blue water bodies. Researchers have found that due to the updated status in the area, the number of visitors has increased significantly.
The South Downs Nature Reserve is especially appreciated among hiking enthusiasts for whom special tourist routes have been developed here. Guests of the park also have a great opportunity to take a bike tour and even horses.
Among the main attractions of the reserve is Long Man of Wilmington, which is a figure carved in one of the local rocks, as well as Clayton mills, which are also included in tourist routes. In the park you can visit the Chattri memorial, which was built in honor of brave Indian fighters.
Especially popular among tourists is « Heavenly Wharf » Beachy Head, which is a huge cape. This rock has a size of 162 meters, which simply hangs over the sea line. Neither photographers nor ordinary tourists pass over this natural attraction. But this area is also chosen by people who are tired of life, because of which the people called it « the name of suicides ».
