Alupkin Park
Alupkinsky Park is a large park with an area of about 40 hectares in the resort town of Alupka. The park began to be broken in 1820, today it is a monument of landscape gardening and is a single composition with the Vorontsov Palace. The park is also called Vorontsovsky.
The relief of the park is very difficult, so in the park you can distinguish several zones: upper, lower and central. The park began to be built several years before the palace, since 1824, the construction of the park was led by a gardener from Germany - Karl Kebah. In Alupkin Park, you can see over two hundred acclimatized trees and shrubs from all over the world: the Mediterranean, Asia, South and North America. Among them, Italian pine trees, oriental plane trees, laurels, magnolias, cork oaks, Chilean araucaria, palm trees, olive tree stand out especially.
In the lower part of the park, centenary boards, cypress trees, laurels, oleanders grow. On the seashore, strewn with large blocks, the Tea House was built". At the time of Vorontsov, there were boats for recreational walks off the coast. You can also relax in Alupkin Park with numerous fountains. Since the time of Muslim Crimea, the construction of the fountain was considered a charitable affair, and it was placed wherever possible. Not far from the palace is the glass jet fountain, built back in 1839, it represents a stele with a wide hole. At the main gate you can see the "Trilby Fountain", which depicts the bas-relief of a dog with an otter. In England, an otter hunt was used to be popular, during which specially trained dogs searched the rivers and destroyed them. Before entering the Vorontsov Palace you can see the fountain, built in 1829.
In Vorontsov Park there are many all kinds of fountains, water cascades and ponds. In the park there are 3 ponds descending with a cascade: Upper, Mirror and Lebyazhy. The latter is named so because there really live swans who are fed all year, and they are not going to fly anywhere. In ponds you can see fish, turtles, and around them laziness, maples, and sisils grow. Due to its diverse landscapes and an abundance of heights, Alupkin Park has gathered vegetation from all over Crimea, you can even see plants that are found only in the wild and cannot be cultivated.
