Cave of Swallows
The Cave of Swallows is an unusual cave among the tropics in central Mexico. It has a very large depth and is the second in the country in depth, and in the world ranking it takes 11th place. The cave goes down about 376 meters.
The entrance to the Swallow cave itself has the appearance of a large hole, which is about 55 meters in diameter. Looking at this natural divo is not so simple, because there is not a wide trail for pedestrians, and even more so along which you can drive using a jeep. Environmentalists are carefully working to ensure that the local unique ecosystem is maximized, for which there is a whole list of prohibitions for researchers.
Usually Sotano de las Golondrinas appears much less than its natural value. This cave knows how to tickle the nerves even the most experienced speleologists, as well as well-trained base jumpers, because the base of the cave is 55 meters, presented in the form of a neck, and then expands and is about 160 meters at the bottom.
The name of the Lastochek cave was not without reason, because whole flocks of swallows fell in love with it. It has long been inhabited by more than one million of these animals. Going deep into the cave is allowed at certain hours in order not to disturb the local residents, and it is also very dangerous if you encounter a flock of birds in a free flight.
The local slopes are held in only one place, for which a trail with a special platform is allocated.
The bottom of the Lastochka cave is densely ejected by bird waste, as well as broken pieces of walls. This mixture, mixed with precipitation, serves as food for a large number of insects, as well as reptiles. There is a very specific air, which is filled with an unpleasant odor, which is associated with constant processes of decay, as well as the formation of mold and fungus.
The most courageous extremes gather at the Swallow Cave, which jump without parachutes. Such free drops take no more than 15 seconds. It is also possible to take a parachute, but without special training, it is better not to take risks, because it must be opened in a very short period of time.
Since 2009, adjacent settlements have the opportunity to develop, as they receive income from numerous tourists, because this area was very loved by baseball jumpers and speleologists.
