Menengai

Menengai crater is a huge natural crater, which is the second largest in the whole world. He found his place near the city of Nakuru, which belongs to Kenya. Many tourists know the way to this area perfectly well, because the trail of the volcano that once raged here simply amazes the imagination of mankind. This natural landmark is breathtaking, because besides the enormous height of the walls, it has a diameter of twelve kilometers.

Menengai

The crater got its name as a result of some history. The fact is that previously the area around was inhabited by several tribes, who usually fought wars for pastures and cattle. One of these fights in 1854, which was particularly violent, gave the name to the crater, which translates as "a place for corpses". As a result of this fight, there were so many corpses that they were mercilessly dumped into the crater by the Masai.

Local people claim that the crater is inhabited by evil spirits who sometimes drag in living people. Whether to believe it or not is everyone's right, but there are really events taking place here that are alarming. People do disappear from time to time at the Menengai crater, it is not clear how they left the tourist group. It is also interesting that when travelers are found after a while, they cannot coherently tell where they were and how they strayed from the group. And even if they find people after a week, they don't feel hungry or thirsty. According to scientists, such human behavior can be explained by gases coming out of the volcano, which have a hallucinogenic effect. But this scientific explanation does not provide an interpretation of what the lost people ate all these days.

Despite the constant turmoil in the vicinity of the Menengai crater, there are always plenty of tourists here. Guides are happy to take you to the crater itself, and they also tell you a lot of scary legends and various stories that are simply terrifying.

For example, just recently, a mother who was looking for her missing son here heard his voice from the bottom of the crater and rushed to his aid. But, accidentally tripping, she fell down and died. After a while, the police found the boy safe and sound. He played quietly with his peers and did not hear his mother's voice.

There have also been cases of suicide, for example, in 2005, a priest fell down at full speed in a car. By the way, this is not the only priest who decided to end his life at the crater.

There is a legend among the local population about a flying ghost that kidnaps people who are trying to take something with them from the crater. For example, people who were gathering firewood near the crater of the volcano disappeared.

When it rains, you can see something huge in the form of a flying umbrella over the crater. No one knows where it comes from or where it disappears to, but it looks like it's covering the boat from the water.

A pointer has been installed near the volcano itself, which provides information to tourists about the distance to world cities. Travelers who arrive at Menengai Crater are usually photographed here.
