Blue pond Biei

Biei is an amazing blue pond that is located among the island of Hokkaido in Japan. It is a very small body of water, but it is very interesting both for tourists and for the local population. Biei is located at the very top of Tokachi Mountain on the banks of a river named Bieigoa.

The pond is really not simple, but its name sounds like that, because it really contains blue water that can change its color.

This amazing body of water appeared after the volcanic eruption in December 1988, or rather the volcano was the impetus for its formation. By order of the local authorities, a dam was built here to prevent the spread of igneous rocks to the local population. The dam was ready by 1989, as a result of which, out of desperation, the water flooded the local forest and acquired a rich blue hue.

Due to its unusual appearance, the fame of Blue Lake Biei gradually began to increase. It's only been 25 years, but the whole world already knows that there is a bright blue lake in Japan. Now many tourists are rushing to see this unusual reservoir, because it has become a real natural attraction of this country.

A lot of scientists were interested in where such a bright color of the water in the lake came from. There were a lot of assumptions and guesses, but no one revealed the truth.

There is a constant renewal of water here, which is why you can observe its different shades, from bright saturated to light turquoise. The reservoir is especially beautiful during the first cold weather, when a thin crust of ice appears on the surface itself, eventually becoming covered with snow. Such a natural painting cannot leave any photographer indifferent.

Everyone has the opportunity to visit the unrealistically beautiful Blue Biei Pond. To do this, you need to get to the city of Tokyo, from where you can get to the railway station of the city of Biei, from which a bus departs, which will take you almost to the prettiest lake.
