Ruaha National Park

Ruaha is a national park in Tanzania on the banks of the Ruaha River, spread over an area of 10,300 ^km2. According to this indicator, Ruaha National Park surpasses only the Serengeti. Ruaha is located 128 km from the city of Iringa. A huge part of the park's territory is occupied by forests of miombo trees, valleys and river valleys.

Mount Ikungu, 1,900 meters high, is the highest point of the park. The local nature is almost untouched by human activity, as this area is difficult to access. As the name of the park suggests, the main natural feature is the Ruaha River. The river is a relatively large river flowing in the east of the park. There are many gorges and backwaters along the river, and the river itself flows into the Rufizhi River.

Ruaha is a kind of African lost world. Time rolls by serenely, the most ancient baobabs grow all around, which are the symbol of the park. Gazelles, antelopes, and impalas gallop across the green grass of the park, and warthogs roam in search of water. There are predators near the river: cheetahs, lions, jackals, hyenas, leopards, and rare African wild dogs. The park has the largest elephant population in East Africa.

Almost five hundred species of birds have found shelter in the forests of the Ruaha National Park. Among the birds, it is worth noting forest hoopoes, kingfishers, finches, egrets, birds, rhinoceroses, turaco, Pelai owls, nectarines. The park also has a very rich flora, numbering over one and a half thousand rare plants.

The park has a well-developed tourist infrastructure, and the park is periodically expanded with an increase in the choice of leisure activities for park guests. The climate here is hot, the driest time is in June-October. During this period, it is best to keep an eye on the animals. January-April is most suitable for bird watching. If we talk about parks, then Lake Nakuru is the best place for bird watching. It is rainy season in Ruaha Park in March and April.
