Ruaha National Park
Ruaha - Tanzania National Park on the banks of the Ruakha River, spread over an area of 10,300 km2. In this indicator, the Ruakh National Park is surrounded only by Serengeti. Ruakha is 128 km from the city of Iringa. A huge part of the park is occupied by forests from miombo trees, valleys and river valleys.
Ikungu Mountain, 1900 meters high, is the highest point of the park. The local nature is almost untouched by human activity, since this area is difficult to access. As the name of the park implies, the main natural object is the Ruaha River. The river is a relatively large river flowing in the east of the park. Throughout the river, many gorges and backwaters are found, but the river itself flows into the Rufizi river.
Ruakha is a kind of African lost world. Time rolls serene, the oldest baobabs grow around, which are a symbol of the park. Gazels, antelopes, gimples, roamers roam the park on the green grass of the park. Near the river there are predators: cheetahs, lions, jackals, hyenas, leopards, and here you can also see rare African wild dogs. The park has the largest elephant population in East Africa.
In the forests of the Ruakh National Park, almost five hundred varieties of birds were found for themselves. Among birds, it is worth noting forest fishing rods, kingfishers, white herons, birds, rhinos, turako, owls Pelai, nectarists. Also in the park there is a very rich flora, numbering over one and a half thousand rare plants.
The park has a well-developed tourist infrastructure, periodically the park is expanding with an increase in the choice of leisure forms for park guests. The climate here is hot, the driest time falls on June-October. During this period, it is best to monitor animals. January-April is most suitable for observing birds.
