Zhangjiajie National Park

Zhangjiajie is a national park of China, established in 1982 on an area of 13,000 km2 in the Wulingyuan Mountains. These places are known for the fact that the unique landscapes here have become the prototype for the soaring mountains in James Cameron's film Avatar.

The peaks of the Wulingyuan mountain range, crowned with a green cap, rise hundreds of meters above the jungle. Some even have their own names. To attract tourists, the mountains were given a second name, the Soaring Pandora Mountains, and Jiankunzhu Peak is called "Hallelujah, Avatar." The height of the Wulingyuan Mountains reaches 3 km, and they are all rugged with tropical forests, caves, rivers with waterfalls. Tourists usually come here from Zhangjiajie village and Dayong city. Admission is free for the local population, but tourists will have to pay 15 yuan. For convenience, 5 tourist routes have been built here, as well as restaurants and hotels. In memory of Zhangjiajie, you can buy original products of local craftsmen from the Tujia, Bo, and Miao people who have lived here for many generations.

Apart from the stunningly beautiful rocks, Zhangjiajie has a very rich flora and fauna. After all, over five hundred species of animals live in these parts, and plants that are not found anywhere else grow. To protect nature in the mountains, the Tianzishan Geopark was founded nearby, as well as Soxiu Park, famous for its huge Huanglong Cave. According to rough estimates, the hall of this cave can accommodate up to 10,000 people.

Another attraction is the Bailong Elevator, the tallest freely moving elevator. Its two-story cabin can accommodate up to 50 people. The elevator takes everyone to a height of 360 meters, where the observation deck is located, and the transparent walls of the elevator add additional extremes. Therefore, it is impossible to leave here without impressions.

Zhangjiajie National Park can be visited whenever you want. Although it is cool here in winter, the park, covered with a white veil, looks like landscapes from fairy tales. With the arrival of spring, flowers bloom with all the colors of the rainbow, and in autumn comes a real riot of colors. In summer, fogs are not uncommon here, bringing with them coolness.
