The Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) is one of the main attractions in Central Florida. Here you can get acquainted with paintings, sculptures and other art objects of Ancient America, the USA from the XVIII century to the present day and other countries. History of creation
A group of enthusiasts who were interested in art founded a non-profit organization in Florida. It was originally the Orlando Art Association. The artists exhibited their work and communicated in an informal setting, discussing ideas and looking for inspiration. In the 1950s, the community was able to raise funds for the construction of a new building, which was completed in 1960.
In the same year, the art center was renamed the Loch Haven Art Center. The institution has received a gift of works by renowned artists Georgia O'Keefe and Charles Sheeler. The center began to expand, and architects Nils Schweizer, Dwayne Stark, and students of Frank Lloyd Wright began to collaborate with it. In the 70s, the collection was expanded with works of art by ancient American peoples and works by African masters. The collection of modern graphics of the United States of the Orlando Art Museum (OMA) was formed.
Short description
In 1985, the center was recognized as one of the largest cultural institutions in the state of Florida. A year later, it became known as the Orlando Museum of Art (OMA), and this name has been preserved to this day. In 1997, a large-scale reconstruction and expansion project was completed, after which the area of the art center increased to 7,500 square meters. It became possible to store more exhibits.
The traveling exhibitions feature works from all over the world. The museum's collection consists of art objects typical of Ancient America, as well as the period from the XVIII century to the present. You can get acquainted not only with the rich cultural heritage of the Native American peoples, but also with the works of contemporary artists.

The Orlando Art Museum (OMA), the fourth largest city in the state of Florida and the largest inland city on the Florida Peninsula, houses more than 2,400 exhibits, including modern graphics. Educational programs are implemented here: a course of lectures, master classes, watching movies. Guided tours can be arranged for both children and adults.
Since 2014, as part of the Florida Award for Contemporary Art exhibition initiative, the museum has been providing works by the most progressive artists whose work makes us think about the meaning of life and other important moments. The Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) also participates in the North American Museums Mutual Cooperation program.
How to get
At Lynx Central Station, you can take the Lynx 23 bus and get off at Mills Ave and 24th St. Then you should walk 5 minutes to the north, the museum will be located on the left side. There is an urban bike trail next to the Orlando Museum of Art (OMA). Taxi or car rental services are also available. Carsharing is available for drivers from the age of 21. Foreigners need to carry an international driver's license (IDP), but some companies only accept national driver's licenses.
