Ronda

Ronda is the name of the most beautiful tourist city in Spain. It stretches on two sides of a huge gorge at an altitude of 750 meters. Two beautiful parts of the city are brought together by a fixed bridge, built in the XVIII century. The territory of Ronda is 481 km2, and its population is 40 thousand people.

Ronda

This is an unusual city, from its height you can endlessly admire the local landscapes. The city of Ronda itself is surrounded by strong walls that were built back when it was owned by the Arabs. The ancient gates of Almokabar and Carlos V., built by the same Arabs, have their place on this territory.

The architecture of the city of Ronda is represented by ancient buildings, in which the spirit of different nations is present. There are mixed styles here, dominated by Gothic, Romanesque, and Arabic. One of the main buildings of the Ronda belongs to this building – the magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria la Mayor, which belongs to the XV century. However, only the tower has survived from this ancient structure. Nearby is the Church of the Holy Spirit, built by the government in honor of the liberation of these lands from the raids of the Moors. Other buildings that attract attention include the Moorish Castle of Mondragon, which dates back to 1314, the Marquis de Salvatierra building, and the Alminar minaret.

Right on the edge of the cliff is the "Tahoe Balcony", which offers a wonderful sight: magnificent landscapes, part of which are the flawless valleys located below. A recognizable place of Ronda, there is also a stone bridge, located at an altitude of about one hundred meters. The main purpose of this structure is to connect two parts of a single city. The new part of the city of Ronda is also very beautiful and attractive. The colorful Carrera Espinal Street is particularly popular among local travelers, which is pedestrian. This street is very popular, because it is here that the commercial side of the tourist district is concentrated. Carrera Espinel provides an opportunity to purchase souvenirs, visit cafes, as well as various shops.

But among all the attractions of this beautiful town, of course, the first place belongs to the ancient arena, which is famous for noble bullfighting. Scientists claim that it was on these lands that the fascinating Spanish spectacle originated. The famous arena here is already 200 years old. There is a bullfighting museum nearby, where various photographs are displayed, as well as specific antique weapons.

Every year in Ronda there is a celebration of the bullfight "Goyeska", which is a theatrical spectacle, the plot of which is filled with the life of the XVIII century. To meet ladies in this city in chic old-fashioned dresses, accompanied by gallant gentlemen dressed in costumes of the nobility, it is necessary to visit Ronda during the celebrations.

The world-famous bullfighter Pedro Romero Martinez, who lived in this city, is considered the father of the fascinating bullfighting that Ronda is famous for.
