Ruskeala Mountain Park is a colorful marble quarry filled with water. A tourist complex was equipped in the Republic of Karelia near the village of the same name.

Since 1765, having discovered the first marble field, a stone was mined that was used in the construction of the most significant structures of St. Petersburg, in particular the St. Isaac Cathedral, the Hermitage Museum, and the Peter I post. The famous architect Auguste Montferran has come to Ruskeala more than once, personally selecting a stone.

Over time, marble production ceased, quarry sites were abandoned and partially flooded with water.

Thanks to the travel company « Colmas Karelia », of all the forgotten quarries were reincarnated into the open-air museum. Abandoned places have been converted into beautiful water bodies, which are associated with cups filled with emerald water. Marble canyon was ennobled, transforming into a park with many foresters, paths and lanterns.

Ruskeala has become available for tourists since 2005. This mountain park is an impressive size – rock height more than 20 meters, the depth of the lakes is more than 30 meters.

Ruskeala's pearl park is the Marble Canyon, the oldest of Ruskeal quarries. In a solid array of marble, it is a man-made bowl. The canyon is 450 meters long and about 100 meters wide. He was flooded with Fins during the Soviet-Finnish military operations of 1939-1940. The depth of the educated lake reaches 50 meters.

To admire the beauty of the canyon from the water, you can rent a boat, also swim in grottoes formed from steep cliffs. They reflect on the ceiling play of light. Diving option provided.

A trail is arranged on the territory of the canyon, special fences and special observation platforms have been made. Walking through hiking trails, shaft eyes, abandoned adits, plant ruins and picturesque views of the adjacent territory of the mountain complex are provided. Tourists can choose either a long or a short route. In addition to the main quarry, there are several more that are distinguished by the color of water and the view from the coast.

Fans of extreme sensations are invited to ride along the cable car through the entire canyon. Representatives of flora and fauna listed in the Red Book of Russia have survived on the territory of Ruskeala.
