Geirangerfjord

Geiranger Fjord is one of the most picturesque fjords in Norway, located in the area of Sunnmere. The length of the fjord is approximately 15 km and it is located 280 km from the capital of the country. Geiranger is one of the branches of the Storfjord. It was included in the World Heritage List for its beauty.

Geirangerfjord

The name of the fjord was given by the village of Geiranger, where you can also visit the Fjord Museum, where you can learn everything about this region of Norway. But still, the main attractions of the fjord are not museums and villages, but its nature. Many waterfalls descend from the cliffs, which reach a height of almost one and a half kilometers, some of them have names - the Groom and the Bride's Veil, the Seven Sisters. People used to cultivate the land here, but now everything has been abandoned, leaving behind small farms. Some farms were built on ledges that could only be reached by a rope ladder.

In summer, you can sail to Geiranger Fjord on the Hurtiruten cruise ship. Outdoor enthusiasts can go fishing, horseback riding, kayaking or skiing in winter. For those who don't have enough of this, they can drive along local roads: Dalsnibba, Trollstigen, Ernesvingen. The roads sometimes wind right at the precipice, and the views of Geiranger Fjord from them are even more breathtaking.
