Villa Balbianello

Villa Balbianello is a luxury villa located on Lake Como, near the town of Lenno, which belongs to the Italian National Fund. This wonderful architectural complex and decorative nature simply complement each other. Villa Balbianello was built in 1787 in honor of Angelo Maria Durini.

The founder of the complex himself called this area "a place for pleasure." He enjoyed spending his time here with friends, challenging another work of art. When the cardinal died, the estate was bought by Giuseppe Arconati Visconti, who improved the garden and also improved the loggias. After that, several more owners of this landmark changed, who also changed and added something.

The last owner of Villa Balbianello was Guido Monzino, who bought it in 1974. To date, the interior of the manor is filled with character traits of its last owner. After all, it was Guido, who led the expeditions, who was able to collect here a wonderful collection of works that present us with African, Chinese, and other peoples of the world art. Within the walls of this noble house, he placed furniture in English and French styles, which dates back to 1700. He also organized a museum on the local territory, where he placed his souvenirs and various documents brought from numerous expeditions, so close to his heart. There is also a library here.

The garden that surrounds Villa Balbianello is simply a masterpiece of its owner. The territory of this island has rocky shores, so the owner could not swing as much as he would like. Therefore, by planting new varieties of plants, the cardinal could not preserve the features of the Italian garden. Thus, the local green part is simply unique, which is just an addition to the lake.
