Dead Horse Point State Park

Dead Horse Head Park – is a truly picturesque area that belongs to the United States. It is located in the southwestern part of Utah near the Colorado River Valley. The park is not associated with its name, but it is a huge observation deck with which an amazingly beautiful valley opens, along which the river flows.

Tourists of this area are simply fascinated by unique natural landscapes. The eyes of travelers open unique pictures of geological formations in the form of rocky elevations, various gorges, valleys, which are the norm for a given area.

Guests of the park note that the landscapes seen inspire a feeling as if you are on a different planet. Indeed, the local nature, which is filled with unsightly dunes, rocky rocks, plateaus, is a rather unusual phenomenon. We can confidently say that more than one sculptor could not reproduce something like Mother Nature herself. The unique landscapes of the Dead Horse Head Park have gradually formed over many centuries. They were formed using winds, rains and other weather events.

Sometimes you can hear how the Dead Horse Park is called the Grand Canyon of Utah, since from its highest point the view opens up a simply huge territory.

The local sunset is amazing and unique when stone blocks bathe in the rays of the setting sun.

Filmmakers who noted the beauty of the Dead Horse park do not pass by this area. In 1991, the bulk of the film « Thelma and Louise » was shot here.

A myth is dedicated to this park, which tells that in the 19th century the local territory was at the disposal of cowboys who used these natural traps to drive wild horses. To determine the most successful horse, the Indians drove the horses into a narrow isthmus, which was at an altitude of 609 meters. But once, people left and forgot to unlock the paddock, where the horses died. It was such a sad story that gave the park the name Dead Horse.
