Everest

The highest mountain on the planet is located on the border between Nepal and China and is known as Everest or Jomolungma in the Himalayas. The peak of the mountain itself belongs to China and has a height of 8848 meters above sea level. This peak has the shape of a pyramid. Its upper slopes are completely naked, because the snow here simply does not hold back.

Everest

There are not many people who can conquer the peak of Jomolungma, but still such extreme guys are. The very first person on earth to conquer this mountain is Tetzing Norgay.

The name of the mountain from the Tibetan language sounds like « The divine mother of the Earth » ( Jumulangfeng ), but in translation from Nepali means « Mother of Gods ». The mountain also has the English name « Everest », which was given to her in honor of George Everest, which led the geodetic group ( 1810-1830 ).

Everest

To conquer the peak of Everest is usually in the plans of all professional climbers, but not everyone is given this. In just over 50 years, about 3,500 people climbed the mountain. It is worth noting that the conditions that must be overcome when ascending are simply hellish. Cold piercing winds blow here at a speed of 200 km / h, and the air temperature reaches minus 60 degrees Celsius. The mountain has destroyed at least 200 lives in 50 years. Mortality during ascension is approximately 10%. Entering the peak of the mountain lasts for two whole months, which includes the period of acclimatization, as well as the breakdown of camps. For the entire period of ascension, a person loses in weight from 10 to 15 kg, or even more.

Everest is usually conquered on a slope that is located in Nepal, as it is considered easier. Many tourists begin their long journey also in Tibet along its northern slope.

Employees of more than one research institute argue that as a result of some natural processes, Mount Everest increases by one centimeter annually, and the entire Tibetan Highlands grows by almost 6 millimeters.
