Herrenhausen Gardens

Herrenhausen – is a garden and park complex located in the very center of Hanover. Undoubtedly, it is one of the main attractions of Germany, which was given the life of the famous woman - Sofia Gannover. This world famous garden was laid back in 1638.

The main part of the park ensemble is the Great Garden ( Great Garden ), defeated back in 1666 by the famous architect from France, who was hired by Hanover. The work, to tidy up the gardens of Herrenhausen, went on for quite some time, as many masters tried to make them just perfect. But, it is worth noting that the ideas of the architects were embodied, and the whole area has a very worthy look, which is famous for the whole world.

The style of the Great Garden of Herrenhausen resembles a British as well as a French garden. But the tourists are very enthusiastic, not only the garden complex, but also the castle located in the area. This building in the past served as a common fortress, but in the 15th century, the owners who represented the Velf clan tried to transform it. Thus, a palace arose here, the restructuring of which began in 1819, and ended in 1821.

During World War II, Herrenhausen Castle was bombed and almost nothing was left of it. It turned out to be unharmed, just a fountain and a few more small structures. But by the end of 2013, work was completed to restore it.

The main components of the Herrenhausen gardening ensemble are the four main parts, which are the main garden, the Velf gardens, the Gheorg gardens, and the mountain garden.

The most important garden is famous for its wonderful lawns, paths, as well as sculptures and fountains. In summer, various festivals and celebrations are constantly held here. In the large garden of Herrenhausen there is a beautiful but very laborious fountain, over which the popular master Nicky de Saint-Falle worked. This main attraction of the garden, which produces a jet of seventy-meter height, is decorated with various crystals, sea shells and numerous rare minerals.

Of great popularity, among the guests of Herrenhausen, is also the mountain garden, where the huge botanical garden of this country is located. Here is an impressive collection of orchids, which has an unusually beautiful view.

The tropical garden lures with its exotic birds, as well as a collection of butterflies. This part of the garden also served as an experimental corner, where they tried to derive new species of plants.
