Berchtesgaden National Park

Berchtesgaden National Park – is the most wonderful alpine reserve that belongs to Germany. Park occupies 210 km2 land of the southeastern part of this country. In 1990, Berchtesgaden was officially recognized by UNESCO.

The lands of Berchtesgaden were always inhabited by people, and in the 19th century it was here that the residence of kings was built. The highest peak of the highlands of the national park is Mount Wazmann, which reaches 2713 meters high. The first name of the park sounded like Königssee, which was awarded to him in honor of the local lake, which is an integral part of the Alpine Mountains. This mirror lake has a length of 8 km, and its depth reaches 188 m. In the waters of Königssee there is a cold-water trout, which prefers transparent cleanest water bodies.

In the west of the lake a church of St. Bartholomew. This building dates back to the 12th century. Silent boats run around the lake surface, where you can take a wonderful walk directly to the church.

The fauna of the Berchtesgaden National Park is quite diverse, its bright representatives are noble deer, mountain goats, roe deer, hares, and groundhogs.

There is another lake in the reserve, the name of which sounds like Funtensee. As for nature, it has been saved here in untouched form. This area simply captivates with the brightness of the colors, the splendor and beauty of the plant world. Clean lakes, sharp rocks, alpine meadows, all this simply complements each other. Animals, among these natural wealth, feel simply excellent.

One of the attractions of Berchtesgaden is the salt mine, where visitors can observe the process of salt extraction.

Tourists enjoy the entire panoramic view of the park, from the top of 1800 meters, where you can get using the cable car.

On one of the islets is the next pride of the park – « Ice Chapel », which has a temple outline and does not melt. Tourist routes also include park attractions such as the Berchtesgaden Palace, the ensemble of thermal structures « Watsman-Terme », the ice cave of Marktshelenberg.
