Berchtesgaden National Park
Berchtesgaden National Park is a wonderful alpine reserve that belongs to Germany. The park covers 210 km2 of land in the southeastern part of this country. In 1990, Berchtesgaden was officially recognized by UNESCO.
Berchtesgaden lands have always been inhabited by people, and in the 19th century it was here that the residence of the kings was built. The highest peak of the mountainous area of the national park is Mount Watzmann, which reaches a height of 2,713 meters. This rock is generously covered with woodlands, among which deciduous trees, as well as pines, firs, and cedars stand out.
The first name of the park sounded like Koenigssee, which was named after the local lake, which is an integral part of the Alpine Mountains. This mirrored lake is 8 km long and its depth reaches 188 m. Cold-water trout are found in the waters of Koenigssee, which prefers clear, clean waters.
The church of St. Bartholomew was built in the west of the lake. This building dates back to the 12th century. Silent boats cruise along the lake surface, on which you can take a wonderful walk directly to the church.
The fauna of Berchtesgaden National Park is quite diverse, its prominent representatives are red deer, mountain goats, roe deer, hares, marmots.
There is another lake on the territory of the reserve, the name of which sounds like Funtensee. As for nature, it has been preserved here in an untouched form. This area simply enchants with the brightness of colors, splendor and beauty of the flora. Clear lakes, sharp cliffs, alpine meadows, all this simply complements each other. Animals, among these natural resources, feel just great.
One of the attractions of Berchtesgaden is the salt mine, where visitors can observe the salt extraction process.
Tourists can enjoy the entire panoramic view of the park from the top of 1800 meters, which can be reached by using the cable car.
On one of the islands there is another pride of the park – the "Ice Chapel", which has a temple shape and will never melt. The tourist routes also include such attractions of the park as the Berchtesgaden Palace, the ensemble of thermal facilities "Watzman-Terme", the Marktschellenberg ice cave.
Berchtesgaden National Park is a real treasure of Germany, where vacationers feel like in paradise. There are all the conditions for a great time here.
