Aquadom
AquaDom is a huge aquarium in the middle of one of the districts of Berlin, cylindrical in shape. This unusual structure, which serves as a home for many fish, is both an addition and the main attraction of the Radisson Blu Hotel. The grand opening of AquaDom took place in 2003.
AquaDom is recognized as the largest aquarium in the whole world, because it has a height of 25 meters and a diameter of 11 meters. It took 13 million euros to build such an unusual fish house in Germany. The AquaDom transparent walls are based on acrylic, which is placed on a nine-meter concrete base.
AquaDom is filled with 1 million liters of water, so that 1.5 thousand exotic fish, of which there are 97 species, can live there normally. The fish species that live in the aquarium have all been carefully selected, taking into account the conditions in which they should live.
For convenient viewing of fish, visitors can use the elevator, which is designed just for this occasion.
AquaDom residents have all the conditions for comfortable living. Underwater life is seething here in its own way, because the builders managed to build even rocks filled with numerous small caves and various cracks where small fish hide from predators.
The cleanliness and order in the aquarium are provided by full-time scuba divers who work here every day. It takes about 8 kg of feed every day to feed the fish.
This water attraction in the courtyard of a five-star hotel is always filled with visitors, and the guests of the Radisson Blu Hotel have a great opportunity to watch the fish right from the hotel windows.
